Dla ptaków poludniowych i z ziem wilgotnych, problemem bardzo powaznym jest zamieszkiwanie terenów nadbrzeznych i blotnych, co przedluza trwanie wielkiej presji humanistycznej. Z innej strony, laki zalewowe delty Zambeze, Parku Narodowego Gorongoza i Rezerwatu Caça Maputo maja polozenie deprecjonowane przez zalewy wód rzecznych. Odparowywanie surowe niesie obciazenie sytuacyjne, wysusza duze obszary ziemskie prowincji Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane, Manica i Tete. Najwiêkszym niebezpieczeñstwem dla ptaków i roslinnosci jest nadmierna praktyka wypalania i wycinania drzew na opal. PORTUGUESE Moçambique - Aves Situado na costa oriental do sul da África, Moçambique tem uma área de 799.388 quilómetros quadrados da linha de costa de 2.500 quilómetros. Embora nunca tenha sido efectuado um inventário completo da população de aves, é sabido que Moçambique possui uma numerosa e diversa população de aves. De qualquer forma, cerca de 700 espécies já foram assinaladas e mais umas 45 provavelmente existem como migradoras. Os dados actuais conhecimento sobre Moçambique das aves vulneráveis ou em perigo de extinção em Moçambique não é suficiente, mas pode ter uma ideia dos dramáticos efeitos que as recentes alterações ecológicas possam ter tido nas populações, distribuição e status de muitas espécies de aves. Para as aves da costa e das terras húmidas o problema mais sério é que os habitats ribeirinhos e aluviais sofrem e continuarão a sofrer uma grande pressão humana. Por outro lado, as pradarias alagadiças do delta do Zambeze, o Parque Nacional da Gorongoza e a Reserva de Caça de Maputo têm sido degradam por alterações hidrológicas dos rios. Secas severas têm agravado a situação, fazendo secar grandes áreas nas províncias de Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane, Manica e Tete. O maior perigo para as aves de floresta é a excessiva pratica de queimadas e o corte de árvores para lenha. ENGLISH Birds in Mozambique Mozambique, situated in the East Coast of Southern Africa, has an area of 799 388 square kilometers and coastal line extending to 2500km. Although no real inventories on bird population have been undertaken, it is well know that Mozambique has a large and diverse bird life. Nevertheless, about 700 species have been recorded as well as a probable 45 other migrating species. Knowledge so far of Mozambique’s rare, vulnerable and endangered birds is insufficient, but it’s possible four us to have some idea of the dramatic effects all the recent ecological changes could have had on abundance, distribution, and status of many bird species. The most serious problem the coastal and wetland bird have had to face is the fact that riverside and alluvial habitats have been, and will continue to be, under very heavy human pressure. On the other hand, the food plain grassland of the Zambezi Delta, the Gorongoza National Park and Maputo Game Reserve has degraded due to the hydrological changes of the rivers. Severe droughts are aggravating the situation, drying up large areas of Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane, Manica and Tete Provinces. The forest bird’s biggest threats are the excessive use of bush fires and the chopping down of trees for firewood.
